These last few months have given us an appreciation for the homes and communities we live in. How lucky are we to have such a great city and gorgeous backyard to explore? We are now settling into to what is our new normal, but that doesn’t mean that life has to be boring? Despite not being able to travel or being able to enjoy some of the events and festivities we are used to, there are so many fun and exciting things to do and see within your very own community and city that more than make up for it.
At Genesis Land we are challenging ourselves to look at our communities and cities the way that a tourist or visitor would see them. You know that feeling when you visit an exciting new place and wonder ‘Wow, that person gets to live here, I wonder what that feels like?’. That is how the rest of the world sees Calgary, Airdrie and all the other great towns and cities in Canada.
If we change our perspective on our current situation and start thinking like that – like our home is a destination, we can remember why we love living here in the first place. Take a moment to think about all the great landmarks, activities and features that a tourist would visit and explore them through this new lens.
‘Destination Home’ encourages everyone to use this time to fall in love with your home, community and neighbourhood again. We have the opportunity to remember why we chose our home, explore the paths and businesses within our communities and take road trips to see everything our province has to offer. It’s all about enjoying your community to the fullest!

Now, more than ever, we encourage everyone to spend more time outside – in your own backyard, using the Genesis Land pathways and enjoying the beautiful views. When was the last time you visited the Calgary Zoo or went back in time to Heritage Park? Not to mention the beautiful Alberta landscape a short drive away.
