School’s Out – Let’s Go Fly a Kite

If you wondered through Bayside in Airdrie on Friday afternoon you would have seen colourful kites flying in the sky as the community came together to celebrate the last day of school. Even though kids have been home-schooled for the last few months, we wanted to give the students and their families an afternoon to get outside, have fun and celebrate in real life (socially distant of course).

We dropped off kites and a $25 gift card to Sorso Lounge, Espresso & Lounge as a surprise to randomly selected, Airdrie community members and they were invited to bring their kite to our afternoon event. We loved seeing all of the people come out as a community and fill the sky with a rainbow of kites. There was music, laughter and special memories made – our team at Genesis couldn’t be more proud to be a part of such a great community.

It was a great way to enjoy time outside and lift the community’s spirit after a challenging and isolated few months. Kids had their school year disrupted or missed graduation, and parents have been feeling the strain of working from home and entertaining their kids. The local gift cards will be used at small businesses that have also been majorly impacted by the pandemic.

Our Calgary communities were a part of the fun too. We dropped off kites and gift cards to homes in of Saddlestone, Sage Meadows and The Ridge at Sage Meadows so they could have some outdoor enjoyment this summer as well.

Community is important to us at Genesis Land and we love having the opportunity to put those values into action. Thank you to everyone who came out to our kite flying event, we look forward to seeing the bright kites flying high during the rest of the summer.
