The City of Calgary’s annual community cleanups have already begun, and will be running each weekend until September. This initiative pairs the City with community associations to help residents get rid of unwanted household items and property waste.
Calgarians can save themselves a trip to the landfill, and this service is free to all residents. The community cleanups provide trucks, on-site materials (garbage bags, gloves), food and refreshments for volunteers.
Most Community Associations provide additional recycling services for such things as electronics, metal, paper shredding, clothing and possible tire recycling and paint pickup. Some of the Community Associations organize a “free store” where you can drop off and/or select items from the donations. All free of charge. – City of Calgary
