Fall in Love with Your Community
February is the month of love but that doesn’t mean you have to buy overpriced roses or celebrate just on the 14th. Fall in love with your community all over again by exploring the hidden (and not so hidden) gems that are just outside your door. Whether you’re looking for family-friendly activities to get your kids out of the house or you want to support local businesses for dinner, there are so many great options within the Genesis Land communities. We compiled a list of some of our favourites to get you started.
Skating at Bayview Park
What do you get when you take a tennis court and mix it with water? A skating rink of course. The tennis court at Bayview Park has been flooded to create a local skating rink for you and your family to enjoy. There is no hockey allowed so you don’t have to worry about your little kiddos getting in the way.
Snowshoeing at Bayside
Take the scenic views of Bayside Estates in from a different perspective and try out snowshoeing. It’s a great workout and it’s a fun activity especially if you’ve never done it before. Take advantage of the extensive walking paths and mountain-framed skies as you trudge along the snow-covered canals, pathways and greenspaces.
Tobogganing at Prairie Winds Park
Is there a more Canadian feeling that trudging up the hill after a thrilling toboggan ride down? A classic outdoor activity that will tire out you and your kids. Our favourite spot for great hills is at Prairie Winds Park. They have hills of all sizes perfect for all levels of toboggan skills and thrill-seekers.
Dinner @ home with Old Town Pizza House
Try out a new pizza joint and support local at the same time. Pick up your favourite pizza and sides from Old Town Pizza House in Airdrie. Pair that with a craft beer or your go-to wine from a local liquor store + your top movie choice and viola, you have the perfect night in.
Nature walk at Symons Valley Nature Reserve
Grab a coffee or hot chocolate from Good Earth in Creekside and then head over to the Symons Valley Nature Reserve to take in the scenic views and enjoy nature. You might even spot a beaver or cool bird as you’re walking along the pathways.
