Hello Autumn! The leaves are changing colour, pumpkin spice everything is back, and you can cozy up in a big knit sweater. We’re excited for the season change and all the activities that Autumn brings for you and your family to experience right here in your own backyard.
We wanted to help you embrace this season and compiled a list of fun, family-friendly activities you can do with your kids on the weekends to continue to explore everything Alberta has to offer. Whether you live in Calgary or Airdrie, there are so many options, you might have to do a family dinner poll to decide which one to do first.
Harvest Pumpkin Fest at Butterfield Acres
Bring your family and find the perfect pumpkin to carve for Halloween. While you’re there, stop in to hang out with all the farm animals, take a pony ride and hop on a tractor pulled wagon to take you through Scarecrow Alley in the back woodlands – we hear it’s beautiful this time of year. Hiking in the Rockies
If you missed the Larch season – it’s short, we know – don’t worry, there are still plenty of hikes that show off the beauty of the mountains in the Fall. Some of our favourites and most recommended are Chester Lake, Ptarmigan Cirque, Rawson Lake and Pocaterra Trail.
Kangaroo Cuddles at Cobb’s Adventure Park
A kangaroo isn’t something you see every day living in Alberta, but at Cobb’s Adventure Park, it’s the norm. They have a kangaroo petting zoo which we can guarantee your kids will love. You can also take a swing at mini golf or watch your kids plummet down the giant hill slides. Click here for more information.
Corn Maze at Kraay Family Farm
Get lost (and found again) in the world famous 15-acre corn maze at the Kraay Family Farm in Lacombe, AB. Spend the whole day exploring the fun activities including pedal carts, mini mazes, hay mountain and the petting farm. Visit their website for more information.
